Hazardous wastes can NEVER be put in the regular trash. Hazardous wastes should be taken to the Community Hazardous Waste Collection. Computers are considered hazardous waste and cannot be placed in residential or commercial cans. Click here for computer recycling / disposal information.

Materials Accepted Include:
Paint & thinners*, household cleaners, photographic chemicals, acids, pesticides & herbicides, solvents, anti-freeze, motor oil, and batteries.
- Transportation limitation: 5 gal. Liquid or 50 lbs. Solids
- Free for South County households (up to 15 gal. per month)**
- No explosives, radioactive, or biological material
Electronics are categorized as hazardous waste. They require special handling and cannot be put in the trash. MarBorg will accept your TVs and computer monitors free of charge at our recycling facility located at 119 N. Quarantina Street.
*This facility accepts all types of paint. The Marborg facilities accept only water-based paints.
**City of Carpinteria residents are not eligible for this program.
Businesses
Business Participants:
In order to qualify for this program, your business must not produce more than 100 Kilograms (27 gal. or 220 lbs.) of hazardous waste per month based on an annual average.
- You must provide a waste inventory prior to disposal
- fee will be charged based on types and quantities of waste
Location
The Collection Center is located at Mesa Road on the UCSB Campus. Take Los Carneros Rd. to Mesa Rd., turn left on Mesa Rd. Once on campus, continue on Mesa Rd. past stop sign. The Collection Center is on the right, just past the Facilities Management yard.
