News: Solar Energy for Our Future

<< back to news

Solar Energy for Our FutureMarBorg Industries current solar energy installation is projected to produce 98,357 kWh's annually. MarBorg Industries' current solar energy installation features a total 57 kW PTC/AC contained photovoltaic solar systems. The systems contain 408 (33" x 64") Shell Solar modules. The systems are projected to produce 98,357 kWh's annually. This is approximately the amount of energy used by 12 to 16 family homes. The system is projected to save over 120,000 lbs. of CO2 emissions per year.

MarBorg Industries plans to install the largest private solar energy installation in Santa Barbara County history.

What's more, MarBorg Industries has issued a challenge to tri-county residents: we will match every dollar contributed to the Community Environmental Council’s energy program up to $300,000. This is a call to action to other local businesses and developers to think about the well-being of future generations by investing in solar now. There are thousands of rooftops in the tri-county area that could become clean energy farms in the next decade.

Facts About Solar Energy

  • Solar energy is a renewable energy source, which means it is non-polluting and inexhaustible.
  • Installing solar energy systems benefits your local economy by creating jobs for solar designers, installers, architects, and builders.
  • Santa Barbara has the perfect topography and weather to thrive off solar energy systems.
  • Solar energy systems may include the use of photovoltaic (PV) panels, solar water heating systems, solar collectors (to preheat ventilation air), and passive solar energy designs (such as window area and placement).
  • You can use solar energy systems to provide electricity to your home, to heat water and air, and even to heat your swimming pool.
  • The earth receives more energy from the sun in just one hour than we use in a whole year. Solar power is an unlimited, harvestable source of energy!
  • About 1.2 million systems have been installed in the U.S., over 80% of which are residential.
  • Many governments and utilities provide financial incentives, including tax credits and loan interest deductions, to encourage the purchase of solar electric systems.
